The leaves are round, smooth, green, leathery and have a slit on one side. The underside is often red or purplish with numerous veins. The leaf stalk is attached to the leaf center at the base of the slit. The flowers are large and fragrant. They can be white, pink, or purple petals with a yellow center.
Concern: They can form dense colonies that can impede recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and swimming.
These aquatic plants can be removed with our WeedRazer® or treated with Navigate.
People often contact us and ask how to remove or how to get rid of lily pads. For lakes we recommend you use our Mechanical Harvesting Service. If you have a pond and would like to tackle the job yourself, you can use our WEEDRAZER® product.
